Lettis Auction Room and Warehouse in Oneonta has received complaints today that a group of people -- specifically "two men" -- have been going door-to-door on the west end asking residents to appraise antiques.

Kevin Herrick, who operates Lettis Auction, said he heard of these complaints late last night and has now informed police that he did not send out these people.

"We operate by phone or by appointment only," he said. "There are at least two gentlemen that are possibly driving a red SUV. They are knocking on doors and trying to get into folks' houses.

"They are identifying themselves as members of Lettis Auction and using my name," he added. "We are in no way associated with these individuals."

Oneonta residents should call the police at 432-1113 if they have any information or have been contacted by these individuals.
