This Saturday is Food For Fitness Day at the Oneonta Farmers’ Market, with free live music, tasty bowls of chorizo and black beans, information on health and wellness, and on-site chair massage. There will be fun for the whole family, including balloon give-aways, free coloring books, and information on how to get children involved in healthy shopping, cooking, and exercise.

$1-a-minute chair massage is available by Karen Maerz-Beers. The manager’s table will feature free samples of chorizo sausage from Stone & Thistle Farm with black beans from Fox Falls Farm and kid-friendly take-home recipes for the little chef. At 11am, Family Traditions will entertain with a broad repertoire of crowd-pleasing favorites, featuring foot-stomping rhythms and tight harmonies by this local family band.

This week’s vendors will offer a wide selection of fruits and vegetables, including tomatoes, sweet corn, broccoli, radishes, greens, beets, summer squash, blueberries, potatoes, raspberries, and more. Meat and poultry vendors will have pork, beef, duck, rabbit, chicken (cut and whole), eggs, and specialty items including meat pies, and sauces. The market will also have cut flower bouquets, potted plants, preserves, homemade granola, honey and maple products, farm-milled rye and wheat flour, canola oil, gourmet baked goods, and handmade crafts.
