A few of my friends and relatives have been successful during the deer hunting season for 2021. I've seen pictures on their Facebook pages over the course of the season.

Regular deer hunting season in the Southern Zone of New York State which includes the Southern Tier currently runs through December 12th. Late bowhunting season is December 13th through the 21st and again December 21st through January 1st. For Pennsylvania, regular deer hunting season runs through December 12th.

Do you love to hunt, fish, camp, bird watch, or maybe participate in a combination of all these activities? Well, if you have yet to be vaccinated for Covid-19, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has an incentive for you.

The NYS DEC states that between now and December 31st, 2021:

"Any residents of the State of New York "who receive their first vaccine dose during December 2021, will have the opportunity to enter the Take Your Shot for an Outdoor Adventure sweepstakes to win special prize packages tailored to anglers, hunters, and other outdoor enthusiasts."

What that means is if you are a New York State resident, and you get your first dose of immunization against Covid-19, you are eligible to enter for the chance to win one of five grand prizes or one of 25 runner-up prizes.

Winners will have options to choose from. Some of the grand prizes include a lifetime fishing license, lifetime hunter & bow hunting license, Lifetime sportsman license for rifle and turkey hunting, and a nice prize package for those who love birding.

Even the runner-up prizes are nice including annual passes for various outdoor hunting and birding activities. And the first 2000 to complete the requirements each receives a prize pack consisting of several items and options.

Check the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation website for complete details, prize description, and how to enter.
