Will Board of Education Stop Requiring Regents Tests?

Could New York State eliminate passing Regents exams as a qualification for graduation? According to a New York City TV station the board of regents will discuss that when they meet this fall. The standardized tests determine achievement in several key areas including math, English Language Arts, science and social studies. The published report says several board members are questioning the exam’s purpose saying graduation rates would improve if the tests are done away with.
