After following up on public tips, New York State Police arrested a Utica man suspected of animal cruelty in Davenport, NY. Police were called back on December 10 to a Davenport residence on Pine Cliff Circle in the town of Davenport with the complaint of dead dogs at that residence. Police arrived to find two adult dogs and four puppies dead, all of which had been left inside a crate outside of a trailer.

It took a month of searching but after asking for the public's help in locating the suspect, 33-year-old Carlos G. Smith of Utica, he was found and arrested on February 11, on six counts of the Agriculture and Markets Law Failure to Provide Proper Sustenance. Smith has a court appearance on Feb. 23 to answer for the charges.
