A month-long criminal investigation led to three arrests in connection to a May 1 fire in Hartwick.

Claud Folds, 63, Jeremy Folds, 20, both of Hartwick, and Adelbert Cleveland, 48, of Cooperstown, are each charged with 3rd degree arson, 2nd degree insurance fraud and 4th degree conspiracy.

The Otsego County Sheriffs Office says Claud and Jeremy Folds and Cleveland allegedly burned down Claud Folds unoccupied residence at 2977 County Route 11 in order to collect insurance money in excess of $50,000.

It took several firefighters hours to bring the fire under control. The Otsego County Office of Emergency Services determined that the fire was incendiary in nature. That led to the investigation by the Otsego County Sheriffs Office Criminal Investigation Division, the State Department of Financial Services, Criminal Investigations Unit and the Otsego County Office of Emergency Services.
