Have you noticed that fake mustaches are everywhere?  I went shopping with my daughter this past weekend and pondered all the fake mustache novelty items that I saw.  For the record, I thought the items were stupid and didn't want any of them.

Where did this bizarre trend come from?  Well, according to global-chica.hubpages.com, the fake mustache fad "originated with hipsters as a way to mock conventional ideals of fashion and style. It's meant as an ironic piece."  I'm not sure fake mustache wearers are using it that way nowadays.  Now, it seems like just a silly adornment to don.

One good thing to come out of this whole trend however is "Movember" in which guys here at Townsquare Media in Oneonta particapted in back in November.  During "Movember ( a combination of the words November and mustache),  men are encouraged to grow their mustaches for the month of November to raise awareness and funds to help prostate cancer research and other male cancers.

If you find that you want to join in the mustache rage fun, if only for a day, you can participate in "Fake Mustache Day" which is coming up on February 3rd. This is the International celebration.  In the U.S., it is specifically celebrated on February 24th.
