Covered bridges are a rarity in the United States, however, our area of Central New York does boast the oldest covered bridge in America!  You can find the Hyde Hall Covered Bridge, built back in 1825 by Cyrenus Clark, Andrew Alden and Lorenzo Bates according to thisiscooperstown.com.  This 53-foot-long bridge is in Glimmerglass State Park and I highly recommend checking it out, along with historic Hyde Hall, an amazing piece of our local history in Cooperstown.

Hyde Hall Covered Bridge, as it turns out, is the only covered bridge in Otsego County!  If you're looking for a fun and interesting afternoon then you will really enjoy a nice walk in Glimmerglass State Park to see the covered bridge and a fascinating tour of Hyde Hall.
