The Best Fall Farmers Markets In Otsego County, New York
I know, I sound like a broken record, but I will die on the hill of those that believe that fall is pure magic in Otsego County. Ad nauseam, I will drone on and on about September and October. The daytime temperatures are right around the perfect mark, not too hot, not too cold - yet. The sights the smells...pardon me while I wax ecstatic.
One of the best parts of fall is our local Otsego County farmers markets. The produce is shifting to apples and pumpkins, and vendors tend to be fall themed overall. Just about every community has their own weekly market. Some run year round. Let's take a look at what our area has to offer.
Cooperstown Farmers Market
This is the OG Otsego County farmers market. Established in 1991, Cooperstown Farmers Market continues to be the gold standard here. Fresh and local is the theme here. You'll find produce, meats, syrup, sauces, honey, art and so much more. Saturday Markets run 9am-2pm (May-December) and 10am-2pm (January through April). Tuesday Markets run 12pm-4 pm (July 4th-September 26th).
Milford Farmers Market
Located in Milford, NY, this market runs June through October, Sundays 10AM to 2PM. The market has vendors with everything from baked goods to produce to plants and honey, with everything being sourced locally. Milford Farmers Market is one of the few markets in the area to run on Sunday.
Eastern Otsego Farmers Market
EOFM is based in Worcester/Schenevus, and has the eastern end of the county covered. Started in 2021, this year they have been traveling to various locations serving communities and causes while making appearances in Schenevus. This market is fiercely local, and vendor items are sourced, made, crafted, or slaughtered within a 50 mile radius. Fresh pork, beef, and chicken are offered along with fresh produce, crafts, and rotating food trucks. EOFM runs Saturdays 9am-1pm. Check their FB page for schedule and location information.
Oneonta Farmers Market
Oneonta Farmers Market runs every Saturday 9 am to 12 pm, May to October on Market Street next to Foothills Performing Arts Center. Mushrooms, honey, apples, beef, pork, corn and flowers are just some of the things on their vendor menus. Local cider too!
Richfield Springs Farmers Market
Spring Park in Richfield Springs is perfect for a community farmers market, and this one runs on Saturdays from 9am till 1pm and will be open through the end of October. Right now, produce, meats, cheeses, eggs, milk, maple syrup, squash, and decor are among the vendor offerings.
