Many New Yorkers have been waiting to get on the roads and now with most vaccinated and able to travel, the 4th of July weekend will be especially busy on the highways. It looks as if traffic on New York roadways will be up from forty percent from last year.
Gas prices have been low for so long that I stopped paying attention to prices at the pump until I saw what it was up to yesterday at one gas station here in Oneonta - $2.99!
After seeing gas prices over the last few years skyrocket to over $4 per gallon, I never expected what I saw at the pumps this week: pricing below three dollars a gallon on regular gas!
I'm noticing a lot of chatter on-line this week about buying gas. I think now that prices are on the rise again, people are paying attention to how much they are spending on gas.
The U.S. average retail price for regular gasoline fell 7.1 cents from a week ago to $3.19 a gallon on Monday.
The average retail price for diesel fuel also fell to $3.83 per gallon.

U.S. Gas prices have hit a four-month high with 32 straight days of increases at the pump bringing misery to spring breakers and job hunters.
The Automobile Association of America said Monday that the national average for a gallon of regular is $3.73 and is 43 cents more than a month ago. Prices top $4 per gallon in California and Hawaii.
