Gas prices in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania are hitting all-time highs.

President Joe Biden has ordered 50 million barrels of oil released from the strategic reserve to help bring down energy costs.

Just as I crossed over the border from New York into Pennsylvania, the brightly lit convenience store gas price sign alerted me to a bit of a shock.

What I find interesting is the difference in price between New York State and Pennsylvania.

Many New Yorkers have been waiting to get on the roads and now with most vaccinated and able to travel, the 4th of July weekend will be especially busy on the highways. It looks as if traffic on New York roadways will be up from forty percent from last year.

Those who know more about the flow of gas and the cost of gas than we do claim that there are two really big factors to the price increase.

It has been reported that gas prices will continue to rise for now.

AAA notes that the average national price per gallon is now $2.25.

Gas prices have been low for so long that I stopped paying attention to prices at the pump until I saw what it was up to yesterday at one gas station here in Oneonta - $2.99!

After seeing gas prices over the last few years skyrocket to over $4 per gallon, I never expected what I saw at the pumps this week: pricing below three dollars a gallon on regular gas!
