Susquehanna SPCA Celebrates Surpassing Goal With Lower Adoption Fees
The Susquehanna SPCA has good news to share: a capital campaign that started back on May 14th has been so successful that the shelter has actually exceeded a matching grant fundraising goal. Not only was the shelter able to raise the required $100,000 (a matching grant) but they ended up passing their goal by $23,000.
The Shelter Us matching donation campaign was from an anonymous donor and the campaign just finished up on August 1, bringing in a total of $223,000. The shelter is thrilled and to celebrate, wants to give back to the community by offering adoption fees that are reduced by $23 this week only (until Aug. 14).
Executive Director Stacie Haynes says, "We are now only about $600,000 from the $5 million mark". The $5 million mentioned is the total price tag of the new shelter to be located just over a mile north of their current location on Route 28, south of Cooperstown.
