Delaware County Sheriff's deputies have caught up with two suspected burglars who are accused of numerous burglaries in Delaware County. The investigation by the Sheriff's Office took place over 4 months to yield these arrests.

A Town of Hamden resident's home video surveillance system proved very helpful in capturing two men, one of which was armed, who forcefully entered the home at about 1:30 in the morning on August 17. The residence owner alerted police the next morning after reviewing the video from the camera.

The Sheriff's Office with help from New York State Police subsequently arrested two suspects in the case: Randy L. Hawkins, of Morris and George Klinger of Morris. Stolen items from that burglary were found at Hawkins' and Klinger's residences, along with other property stolen at other burglarized homes. Both were arrested without incident.

Hawkins and Klinger now face class B violent felony charges and offenses of burglary in the first degree and criminal use of a firearm in the first degree. After being arraigned in the Town of Hamden Court, Hawkins was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $75,000 cash bail and Klinger was remanded in lieu of $40,000 cash bail.

Sheriff DuMond says that the investigation into several burglaries, including this one, is ongoing and that Dumond is expecting "several more felony arrests”.
