In a release on Monday, SUNY Oneonta says there are now 651 confirmed coronavirus cases among the student population since the start of the fall semester. There are currently 43 students in quarantine on campus while 139 are in isolation on campus. No staff have test positive for the virus. The data covers testing through this past Saturday. SUNY Oneonta President Barbara Jean Morris issued a statement regarding the discovery that some residence hall students flaunted the college’s strict safety protocols during the COVID-19 outbreak. Morris says "it is deeply disappointing that following the severe action SUNY Oneonta took just days ago to shift to remote learning for all students, they are still faced with the reckless and irresponsible behavior of a few." College officials are working on identifying those involved and issue disciplinary actions and possible suspensions.
