Sidney Promises Something For Everyone At 250th Anniversary Celebration
Sidney, NY has a special birthday to celebrate and they plan on making a big splash with this one. Sidney is pulling out all the stops for its 250th Anniversary Celebration. If there's anything we've learned about Sidney, residents not only know how to weather a storm but they know how to celebrate special occasions and are known for great parades. The upcoming 250th celebration on June 10 and 11 will not disappoint. Of course, it will include a parade which is Sidney Federal Credit Union's Hometown Day Parade taking place on Saturday, June 11 at 1:00 pm through Downtown Sidney.
The activities planned for this semi-quincentennial anniversary are varied and there's something for everyone (not just Sidney residents) to enjoy: from historical tours in Sidney to History of Sidney Trivia with former radio personality "Big Chuck" (my watercooler buddy) to kids' crafts and activities, live music, live music, beer and wine tasting, fireworks and more.
As part of the celebration, there's even a "250th Celebration Virtual 5K" which invites participants to walk, run, or...(wait for it) couch surf! Who can resist that? Especially since proceeds from the entry fee benefit the Delaware Valley Humane Society and the Sidney Central School District Scholarship.
Let's just say that there will be plenty to do between Friday and Saturday events in Sidney. You can get the full schedule of events on the Sidney Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.
