Serious Otsego County, New York Accident Under Investigation
The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious accident involving injuries in the Town of Cherry Valley.
At 10:03 a.m., the Otsego County 911 Center received multiple reports of a two-vehicle crash on County Route 50, where one vehicle had rolled over and caught fire.
Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement units were immediately dispatched to the scene. Preliminary findings indicate that a northbound pickup truck, driven by a lone occupant, crossed the center line and collided with a southbound SUV carrying two people.
The impact caused the SUV to leave the road and come to rest in a field, while the pickup overturned and caught fire. The driver of the pickup managed to escape.
The pickup driver was airlifted to Albany Medical Center with multiple injuries, while the driver of the SUV was airlifted to Syracuse Medical Center. The SUV passenger was taken to Bassett Medical Center by ambulance, both with multiple injuries.
The investigation is ongoing, with charges pending.
