Sen. Seward Seeks to Amend NY SAFE Act

State Republican Senator James Seward and Democratic Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi announced Monday the introduction of a legislative package to amend and repeal portions of the NY-Safe Act. Seward voted against the NY-Safe Act two years ago and has joined law-abiding gun owners in calling for its repeal ever since. Seward co-sponsored a bill to repeal the entire law, and is also working to chip away at the law’s worst provisions. Assemblyman Brindisi has introduced 4 bills amending or repealing several provisions of the Safe Act. Seward says there is no proof that the NY-Safe Act has stopped criminals from getting guns and using them for illegal purposes.
