Multiple Seasonal Property Burglaries Reported in 3 Counties

Multiple reports have come in to New York State Police from owners of seasonal properties, reporting burglaries in Chenango, Delaware, and Otsego counties. Homes, as well as sheds, are getting broken into with items stolen and police are looking for suspects.

So far, two men have been arrested and charged (on July 10) in connection with thefts in Delaware and Otsego Counties, but police believe that more people are involved in the reported thefts which include guns, generators, tools, and other items of value. At this time, 23-year-old Christopher J. Youngs Jr. of Maryland and 27-year-old John B. Clark of Morris have charges filed against them for burglaries in the second degree, as well as Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree. Both are felonies.

Youngs is held in the Delaware County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond, while Clark is at the Otsego County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

Police ask that anyone with information about these or other burglaries at season properties, call state police at Sidney at (607)561-7400. And if you happen to see any suspicious activity, call 911 immediately.

To protect any gun you own, make sure you record the serial number in case your property is stolen. The serial number is used to identify the stolen firearm so it can be returned to the owner.
