U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer was in Norwich on Monday at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital to discuss bipartisan legislation that would extend two Medicare payment programs.

Schumer says passage of the Rural Hospital Access Act of 2017 is critical so the hospital doesn’t lose nearly $21 million in funding over the next decade.

According to the senator nearly 45 percent of residents served by UHS Chenango are covered by Medicare or Medicaid.
