Richfield Springs Man Dies: Five Escape Town of Otsego Fire
This past Sunday, according to New York State Police at Richfield Springs, an early morning residential structure fire proved to be fatal for a 77-year-old male who lived on Jones Road in the town of Otsego.
Two other adults (one male and one female) and three children managed to escape the blaze, along with five cats and one dog. The pets were taken to a local a veterinarian, the five people managed to escape the fire without injury. The adult male assisted the 77-year-old male out of the fire but he later passed away at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
Cooperstown Fire Department, Richfield Springs Fire Department, Schuyler Lake Fire Department, Fly Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Hartwick Fire Department, Hartwick Seminary Fire Department, Edmeston Volunteer Fire Department and West Edmeston Fire Department responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation with no foul play is suspected.
