Retail Bonanza: New Mall Stores to Open in Oneonta
It's exciting times at the Southside Mall in Oneonta, New York. Two national chain stores are planning their entrance by the end of 2023 according to a post on the mall's Facebook page.
The mall will see new life soon as Michaels and Five Below are slated to open by the end of the year.
Famous Discount Store Opening
Five Below is a chain of discount stores that generally sells items for $5 or less. The first store opened in Wayne, PA in 2002, and the chain has seen exponential growth since that time. On their website, the company says: "Five Below knows life is way better when you’re free to LET GO & HAVE FUN in an amazing experience filled with unlimited possibilities priced so low, you can always say “YES” to the newest, coolest stuff!" In addition to the $5 and below price point, there are also items ranging in price from $6 to $26. The chain is mainly geared towards teens and tweens.
Arts & Crafts Store Stirs Excitement
Also coming to the mall is a much beloved arts and crafts store. Michaels is also set to open by the end of the year. If you follow vendor events in the area, then you already know that we're rich with crafty people who sell their wares to the public. Per Wikipedia: Michaels Stores sell a variety of arts and crafts products, including scrapbooking, beading, knitting, rubber stamping, home décor items, floral items, kids' crafts, paints, framing, greenery, baking, and many seasonal items. Michaels also specializes in custom framing for all those pictures and posters you've had hanging around for a while.
Downtown Shop Moves to the Mall
Also of note, Sweet Caroline's Co. which is currently located at Elm and Main Street in downtown Oneonta is moving to the Southside Mall. The clothing boutique's grand opening will be held on November 4th.
