The Raymond Corporation in Greene Is Celebrating 100 Years

One of Chenango County's biggest employers, The Raymond Corporation is celebrating 100 years in Greene, NY and it's one of those companies that you knew was a local company but really don't know much about.

According to the Raymond Corporation, the company was started in 1922 by George Raymond Sr., an innovator and forward-thinking man who created a business that revolutionized the material handling industry by designing and manufacturing leading-edge electric lift trucks. But the company's beginnings were humble and started out by making double-sided wooden pallets. The company grew and became recognized not only in America for producing high-performance, reliable lift trucks with low cost of operation, but also gained global recognition for the quality of their products.

If George Raymond Sr. could only see the company that he started today. I'm fairly certain he would be blown away with the technology being used in one of their latest creations, the Virtual Reality Simulator. See it below...

It looks like a very cool video game but it's actually a tool that helps to train people on how to operate forklifts proficiently and efficiently, after all, it's a high-tech world now and everything is more complex than it used to be.

The Raymond Corporation shared on their Facebook page, that yesterday a big 100th-anniversary celebration was held in Greene at the company's headquarters with "family members, distinguished guests, community leaders, and government officials".

A Fun Night at The Drive-In Theatre is Still Possible at These 21 Nostalgic Outdoor Movie Venues

In the 1950s there were more than 4,000 drive-in theatres popping up all over the United States. The decline of their popularity came in the late 1960s and early 1970s when their numbers dropped to about 350 nationwide. Later, with the advent of the "everything retro" movement, outdoor movie theaters made a comeback and today there are more than 500 in the United States.

We all have fond memories of jamming our cars full of kids on "one price per car" night, the buggy yellow fluorescent neon lights at the concession stand, the greasy and oh-so-satisfying drive-in food, and those awkward in-window car speakers.
