I love this old photo of the D&H rail yard.  I have seen lots of black and white pictures of this area of Oneonta but when you colorize something it takes it to a different dimension.

I look at this and can imagine the noise of the metal trains coming in and out of the yard, the giant turntable creaking as it revolves around with a 10-ton locomotive on it, I can smell the fumes coming from the old smokestacks.  And I can hear the chatter of the hundreds of workers down there in the Lower Deck toiling away for a dollar or two a day.  And I can make out the different languages of the street, the Italian and Greek immigrants mixing with all the local boys.

Yes, I love this old photograph.
