A raccoon in the town of Stamford is the first animal of 2019 to test positive for rabies in Delaware County. Three people and a dog were exposed to the rabies virus. All three people are being treated for rabies post exposure and the dog was up to date on its rabies vaccinations so a booster was given. Those needing to get rabies shots for their pets can do so at a Delaware County Public Health rabies clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets on Friday, April 26 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Town of Stamford Garage on State Hwy 10 in Hobart.
