Big Change For Longtime Otsego County Family-owned Restaurant
We all have our favorite pizzerias and for many years, Pondo's Pizzeria in Collierville, NY has been a local, favorite restaurant serving up pizza, subs, homemade desserts, ice cream, and more at reasonable prices. Owner Dan Bettman announced on Pondo's 2 Family Restaurant & Pizzeria Facebook page that he is passing the torch to a new owner after selling the restaurant.
The following message was posted in late November:
After 20 years of service Pondos sadly has to say goodbye and thank you to its valued customers. Opening soon under new ownership. Thank you for everyone’s support during this difficult time.
Pondo's began over 25 years ago, it was a family-owned restaurant that began at 36 River St. in Oneonta, NY with a second location that opened later in Colliersville. It's not known who the new owner is or if the pizzeria will continue with the same or a similar menu.
Family member and owner of Nick's Diner in Oneonta, Rod Thor, made the following statement on Pondo's Facebook page:
Dan Bateman was one of the hardest-working people I know. Before getting involved with Pondos restaurant he has always worked 2-3 jobs his whole life. He has worked until he’s physically unable to work anymore. My mother Jane Bettman still helps out at Nick's Diner on Chestnut Street Oneonta making the same great desserts. It’s a sad day for Dan and the family. Dan loved the restaurant it was his life.
We wish Bettman all the best and wait in anticipation, of what's in store from the new owner of Pondo's when the restaurant opens.
