Have you driven out Route 205 lately and noticed some new houses on a new road about a mile up from the West Oneonta Rt.23 and Rt. 205 intersection?  The road is named McFarland Road and it will soon be a small neighborhood of several houses built by Habitat for Humanity of Otsego County.  Several of the homes are already occupied by the lucky new owners.

Here is an update on construction progress of the remaining homes.
This past week the concrete contractor poured the cellar floor for Lot #4. They completed the Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) assembly for the foundation walls, including the reinforcing rebar and the foundation penetrations. Next week they will assemble the bracing and various other tasks, prior to pouring the foundation walls. They may be able to pour the walls, depending on the availability of material.
If you would like to see for yourself this new endeavor by our friends at Habitat for Humanity here are the directions.
For directions to McFarland Road from Oneonta, take State Route 205 north to the McFarland Road site, which is on the left 0.9 miles from the light where Route 23 turns left to West Oneonta. If you are coming South on State Route 205, continue 3.8 miles from the blinking light (for the right turn into Laurens), to the right turn onto McFarland Rd.  If traveling on I 88, get off at Exit 13 and turn North on State Route 205. Travel about 3 miles and McFarland.
