The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office is struggling with a problem that has been going on for a while now and it's something that a lot of businesses are dealing with as well. The issue is inadequate staffing, specifically deputies.

This problem is significant enough that Sheriff Richard J. Devlin, Jr. turned to social media to inform the public about the shortage and why it's happening. Sheriff Devlin includes a call to action for people to contact their Otsego County Representative and express support for the Sheriff's Office.

In a Facebook post earlier this month, Sheriff Devlin details why Otsego County can't hold onto deputies. Since this past July, the county has lost as many as 13 deputies with low pay being the predominant reason. There are other issues as well which are detailed below in the Sheriff's post.
