On September 27, 2016, at about 8:21 p.m., New York State Police at Oneonta arrested John C. Schreiber, 37, of Otego, NY for the felony of aggravated family offense and the misdemeanors of endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful imprisonment 2nd degree, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and driving while intoxicated with a B.A.C result of .12%.

This arrest occurred after troopers responded to an Otsego County 911 report of a dispute on Wheaton Creek Road in the Town of Otego. An investigation determined that during a physical dispute with the victim, Schreiber choked her and would not let her and her three children leave or call for help. He eventually drove away while intoxicated but returned and was arrested by troopers as he arrived This arrest was a felony because he has a prior family offense conviction within the last five years.

Schreiber was arraigned in the Town of Laurens court and was remanded to the Otsego County jail in lieu of $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 property bond. His next court date in the Town of Otego is pending.
