UPDATE (12:19 p.m.):

A fire was called into the Oneonta Fire Department early Monday morning.  I later took a walk up to 5 Cherry Street to see what happened.  Those recent photos are below.

Fire personnel and neighborhood residents on the scene told me that the house was unoccupied at the time and that no injuries, to firemen or others, were reported.  No cause of the fire has yet to be determined.  Although I am not a professional, to me the fire seemed to completely destroy the interior of the structure.  Large holes were seen destroying the large rooftop and most of the windows were blown out or broken.  Char marks could be seem all around the house.  Residents told me they believe it was a single family home, and not a student housing facility.

Oneonta Fire Department responded early this morning to a structure fire near the corner of Cherry Street and West Streets.  News Director Dakota Huber was on the scene and reports that OFD has the fire contained to that location, which is in a crowded neighborhood.  As of 7:45 but are still fighting flames.
