Oneonta, New York Pridefest Kicks Off Tomorrow
Oneonta Pride Alliance's signature event, Pridefest kicks off tomorrow. Started in 2017, Pridefest in Oneonta has grown exponentially. Estimates show that last year's event drew in over a thousand people to downtown Oneonta.
For this year, the theme is "Follow the Rainbow Home". Live music, entertainment, drag shows, vendors, community resources, kids activities, yoga and more are all on the menu for the day.
Pridefest 2024 will launch with a parade that originates at 27 Market Street, directly across from the Foothills and culminating on Main Street. Lineup for the parade begins at 1pm and starts moving at 1:30. All are welcome, no registration needed.
Directly following the parade, the Holbrook-Wade Dancers take the main stage in Muller Plaza. An opening ceremony is next, followed by a presentation of scholarships and awards. Later in the day, Terrance Frost takes the stage with his smooth pop music stylings.
Other entertainment options include two drag shows, Pride Idol finals, Rickety Fence with guests, and Chris playing solo acoustic music. Otsego County's first and only Rocky Horror Picture Show shadow cast will be leading the Time Warp at 4:50.
As a family friendly event, there's a list of activities for children and families including crafts and games in the kids' tent, children's yoga and tender gender yoga hosted by Yoga People Oneonta, a skateboard raffle, and a little free library.
Don't forget the food trucks and vendors! Ye Olde Bubble Tea will be present serving boba tea and snacks, and Junior's Jerk Hut will be slinging their signature, authentic Jamaican jerk chicken.
Pridefest runs from 2pm-7pm on Main Street in Oneonta.
