Oneonta Hodges Pond Dog: Friend Or Foe?

If you have been through Neahwa Park in Oneonta this spring you may have noticed quite a few geese.  As much fun as it is to see Canada geese in the park, they do leave quite a mess behind!  The City of Oneonta decided to tackle this problem by bringing in a "dog" to scare away the geese.  I checked it out yesterday and did not find and actual pond watch dog.  What I saw was a cut-out of a dog next to the pond with geese surrounding it like it was their best friend.  This mock dog isn't exactly terrifying the geese.  Then again, there weren't that many geese around so maybe it did manage to frighten some of them away?  I have to admit, stepping around the goose poop wasn't fun BUT I sure did enjoy seeing this family of geese with cute, fuzzy goslings!
