Out of all students in public and private schools as well as in youth organizations from Kindergarten through 12th grade in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, and U.S. and military installations in foreign nations, one young woman from Oneonta, New York has been crowned the winner of the National Cybersecurity Poster Contest!

Thirteen winners are selected each year to have their artwork turned into a calendar, but only one takes the top spot and that is Madelyn on Oneonta who created a piece of art depicting how wherever a person goes, their digital footprint will follow so it's best to be cautious.

New York State's Office of Information Technology put out a call to students earlier this year and invited them to create a poster that would encourage other students to use the internet safely and securely. A post about the contest on the Office of Information Technology's website states, "Students have a chance to illustrate their concerns about cyber bullying, sharing too much personal information and the appropriate use of social media platforms with their peers and teachers in a positive way. "

More than 600 students in New York submitted posters and then the Office of Information Technology selected 12 of the posters to be submitted to the national contest. Out of all of the students from literally around the world, Madelyn of Oneonta was selected as this year's big winner.

Madelyn and the other 12 students whose posters will be turned into calendars will have their work on display in schools all around the country and for their schools, they will be sent calendars along with materials to help promote cybersecurity within their school districts.
