Following the SUNY Oneonta outbreak of COVID-19 among the student population, several free rapid testing events have taken place for community members to take advantage of. Now the City of Oneonta announces another round of rapid coronavirus testing this week: Tuesday, 9/22 and Wednesday, 9/23 at Foothills Performing Arts Center.

According to the City of Oneonta, in last week's testing, 254 people were tested and of those individuals, 3 tests were confirmed positive for COVID-19. Two of the three were
students. Commenting on the results of last week's testing, Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig says, "The test results continue to reaffirm that the recent outbreak was caught in time to prevent spread beyond the student population. This is reassuring to all of us. We must, however, continue to exercise precautions including wearing masks and avoiding large gatherings.

These rapid testing events have been staffed by members of the Otsego County Department of Health and Bassett Healthcare Network.

To make an appointment for a free rapid test for COVID19 this Tuesday or Wednesday at Foothills Performing Arts Center, please call 607-547-4279.
