Otsego County Sheriff Richard J. Devlin Jr. announced deputies are monitoring school bus routes this week to ensure enforcement of the Vehicle and Traffic Law regarding stopping for stopped school buses loading or discharging children. The enhanced patrols are part of “School Bus Safety Week” which runs through Friday. The fine for passing a stopped school bus ranges from a minimum of $250 for a first violation to a maximum of $1,000 for three violations in three years.
