NYS Finalizes Paid Leave Program
New York State has adopted regulations implementing the Paid Family Leave program. According to Governor Cuomo’s office the program beginning Jan. 1, 2018 provides workers with wage replacement and continuation of health insurance as they are bonding with a child, caring for a close relative with a serious health condition, or helping relieve family pressures when someone is deployed abroad on active military service. A provision of the program ensures employees are entitled to be reinstated to their job when their leave ends.
