An outdoor burn ban remains in effect throughout New York until May 14. Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos urges New Yorkers to obey the statewide burn ban as conditions for wildfires have become heightened across most of the state Wednesday, with temperatures and winds increasing. Campfires using charcoal or untreated wood are allowed, but people should never leave such fires unattended and must extinguish them.
