NY State Resident Census Response Rate Remains Low
State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli reports that New York State is lagging behind other states in responding to the 2020 census and this could mean bad news for all residents. As of July 14, New York ranked 38th nationwide with a response rate of just over 58%. The national average is 62%. Around half of Otsego County residents have responded with 53% in Chenango County and 39% in Delaware County.
DiNapoli says if New York is undercounted the state could lose federal financial resources along with congressional representation. If you haven't responded to the census yet, it's not too late and it only takes about 10 minutes. Click here to fill it out now or get more information.
