New York State is allocating $65 million in Federal CARES Act funding to support new childcare health and safety protocols, along with assisting closed daycare programs to reopen. The closed program assistance will pay 50% of the cost of a newly opened classroom with a maximum grant amount of $6,000. The temporary funds will phase out as more parents bring their children back into childcare. Just over 3 in 10 daycare facilities closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
