UPDATE 2:

New York State Police have released the name of the hit and run victim from the August 16th incident on Rt. 205 near Country Club Road in the Town of Oneonta. Alan R. Weill, 72 years old from Oneonta was the pedestrian killed.  The investigation continues as police ask the public for assistance in identifying the driver of the hit and run vehicle. Anyone with information should contact state police at (607)561-7400.

UPDATE 1:

New York State Police have found the vehicle involved in the hit and run in the Town of Oneonta. No other information has been released at this time. Updates will follow.

Reports of a Route 205, Oneonta road closure came in early this morning. At first, all that was known was that Route 205 was closed to thru-traffic between Brown St. and Chestnut Street due to an "accident" where 511ny.org was reporting "Crash investigation and Crash with Injuries" on that road. No more information was available until now.

New York State Police have reported that a fatal hit and run incident took place on State Route 205 near Country Club Road in the Town of Oneonta. A driver in an unknown vehicle struck a pedestrian and did not stop to report it. Police are looking for leads in this case. If anyone has any information, they are asked to contact New York State Police at (607) 561-7400.

At this time (9:20 am) State Route 205 at Brown Street and Chestnut Street extension is still closed to traffic.
