Now that New York State residents ages 16 and older are eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccine (as of today) Governor Cuomo has kicked off the “Roll Up Your Sleeve” Campaign” to encourage those eligible to sign up for a vaccination appointment.  See the campaign below.

According to the Governor's Office, since demand for the vaccine still outstrips supply, New Yorkers are encouraged to remain patient and are advised not to show up at vaccination sites without an appointment.

As of right now, people 16 and 17 years of age can only receive the Pfizer vaccine, making New York almost one month ahead of schedule with President Biden's May 1 deadline for states to enact universal eligibility.

According to a Pfizer press release from March 31, "In participants aged 12-15 years old, BNT162b2 demonstrated 100% efficacy and robust antibody responses, exceeding those reported in trial of vaccinated 16-25 year old participants in an earlier analysis, and was well tolerated".

Here's how to proceed to get a vaccine at clinic near you.

  • First, you fill out the form at am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov.
  • Second, you register to get a vaccine at a state-run site like SUNY Oneonta or you can look for available local county clinics. Certain pharmacies are also giving vaccines to anyone eligible.
