It used to be the Susquehanna SPCA's thrift store at  4841 NY 28, just outside of Cooperstown and now it's the home to Montezuma Winery, based in Seneca Falls, NY. This family-run business started in 1999 and the Rt. 28 location is the fourth one for Montezuma Winery.

Bill Martin, Co-owner of Montezuma Winery says, ”My family and I are thrilled to grow our business in Cooperstown. Adding this location to our business will bring a taste of the Finger Lakes to Otsego County, allowing the residents and visitors the opportunity to taste our great products.”

A ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce and an open house was held this past Saturday featuring live music, food, and wine and spirit tastings. This was my second time at Montezuma Winery having recently discovered it. My husband and I went there one weekend afternoon and really enjoyed the experience and the wine. I can tell you that they have quite a number and variety of wines and spirits that they offer.

An unusual and fun extra about this winery is that because the owners purchased part of the SPCA property that includes a picnic area and fenced-in dog area so feel free to bring your dog. What's not to love about that?
