My Visit To The Susquehanna Animal Shelter [Video]
I am a big animal lover and one of my favorite places to visit with my kids is the Susquehanna Animal Shelter, just south of Cooperstown on route 28. This wonderful facility that takes in cats and dogs who don't have homes is run by a very caring staff who are very passionate about what they do and it shows! They do a great job of keeping the facility clean and working hard at holding multiple fundraising events to keep the pets in their care well fed and taken care of.
Because of the great number of dogs and cats that they take in on a regular basis, especially in the spring, they rely on volunteers to help with spending time with the animals, help with care, and sometimes their fundraising events. I highly recommend volunteering to help in some way! The animals are adorable and are so excited when people come to play with them. It's a great way to spend an hour or so with kids. Just keep in mind, your kids WILL beg to adopt any number of the many pets there.
Below is a very cute video of a very cute little dog named "Spike" who recently was adopted.
If you are interested in giving one of their pets a home, they have plenty of choices and will help you find the right one for you. To donate to the shelter CLICK HERE.
