Otsego County Sheriff Richard J. Devlin, Jr. announced the arrest of a Town of Morris woman for the theft of medical supplies from Bassett Medical Center. The Sheriff's Office says "the theft of critical medical resources is unacceptable and those identified will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

Josie D. Wright, 33 years old, of Morris, NY has been charged with one county of Petit Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor after being accused of stealing face masks and alcohol prep pads from Bassett Medical Center. The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office had been contacted by Bassett Security to assist in an investigation into the thefts of personal protective equipment from the hospital. The investigation revealed that Wright, a contracted employee at Bassett, had taken face masks from Bassett and was shipping the masks to another person.

The investigation is still on-going. The Sheriff's Office believes that there may be other employees who have stolen items from the hospital and shipped them to others. The motive is unclear at this time.  Wright was issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Otsego Court.
