Morris the Cat Paved the Way for Cats Down on Their Luck [Video]

Do you remember Morris the cat?  He was one of the most famous cats when I was growing up.  He wasn't always a star as he was almost put down at an animal shelter in Chicago back in 1968.  Then, a miracle happened 20 minutes before the deadly deed: he was discovered by people in show business and the 9Lives cat food star was born.  Morris became such a big celebrity that he lived quite the life of luxury and even had armed guards to protect him from catnappers.

Morris died in 1978 and ever since, there have been three different "Morris the Cat" replacements, which have all been rescued cats proving that an alley cat can make it big.
