Morris School District To Get New Superintendent
The Morris Central School District will have a new Superintendent starting July 1, 2021. According to the district's board of education, Dr. Shannon Babbie, who last served as elementary principal for the Camden Central School District and previously taught English and Social Studies before moving into administrative positions, succeeds current Morris Superintendent Matthew Sheldon. Sheldon served as superintendent at Morris for 12 years. The announcement was made at the May 18 board of education meeting.
Board President Wendy Moore says, “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Babbie as our new Superintendent. He brings a broad range of knowledge and expertise, and his
innovative and collaborative approach to education are just what we were looking for."
Dr. Babbie's higher education background includes earning his Associate’s Degree from Mohawk Valley Community College, a Bachelor’s and Master’s from SUNY Cortland, an advanced degree from SUNY Oswego, and a doctorate from St. John Fisher. In Babbie's doctoral work, he focused on training teachers to meet
the needs of students with autism.
With his new position in Morris, Dr. Babbie won't be far from where he grew up - West Edmeston and Leonardsville, NY.
