Man Found Dead in Oneonta Barn Fire: Animals Rescued
Monday night, the Oneonta Fire Department was called to the scene of an Emmons property in the Town of Oneonta (130 Riverstone Road) where a barn was fully engulfed in fire. According to AllOTSEGO, fire fighters arrived at the property at 11:20am and with the help of fire crews from Schenevus, Milford and Pindars Corners, fought the blaze until about 4:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
According to Otsego County Sheriff Richard J. Devlin, a man was found dead on the premises but officials did not reveal where he was found and if it was related to the fire or not.
Four horses and a dog were rescued from the barn and transported to the
Susquehanna SPCA. None of the animals were injured and are currently being fostered by volunteers.
The fire is currently under investigation with the state Department of Fire Prevention and Control and the Otsego County Sheriff’s Department.
