State leaders could not agree on the details in The Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act for the State of New York so it will not go through at this time.  The main sponsor of the bill, Manhattan Democrat Liz Krueger, had the following comments on her facebook page following the bill's defeat:

"Unfortunately, it is now clear that the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act will not pass this session. This is only a delay, but that delay means countless lives will continue to be upended by unnecessary enforcement. I will continue to push for a rational, legal adult-use policy. I have no doubt that prohibition is an outdated and harmful law, and its days are numbered."

No doubt this issue will continue to crop up and could end up being a heated issue next year which is an election year.
