Vestal, New York Case Exposes Nationwide Drug Trafficking Operation
A man from Vestal has been sentenced to nearly two decades in federal prison for his role in a large-scale drug trafficking operation that stretched across the country but hit close to home in Broome County.
Corey Jordon Green, 33, was sentenced to 19 years in federal prison for his involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy that investigators say brought fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine into the area.
A Drug Operation With National Reach
According to federal prosecutors, Green admitted that from January 2022 through November 2023, he possessed, distributed, and conspired to distribute large quantities of fentanyl and heroin in and around Broome County. Investigators said the drugs were sourced from California and other locations before being moved across state lines into New York. The court also found Green responsible for distributing methamphetamine as part of the operation.

Weapons and Money Laundering Tied to the Case
As part of his guilty plea, Green admitted he possessed five firearms while running his drug operation, including three handguns and two AK-47 style weapons. He was prohibited from having any firearms due to multiple prior felony convictions. Prosecutors also said Green conspired with others to launder money made from drug sales, moving proceeds through banks and money apps to conceal the source of the funds.
The Sentence and What It Includes
Chief United States District Judge Brenda K. Sannes imposed a 19-year federal prison sentence, along with concurrent three and five-year terms of supervised release once Green completes his prison term. The court also ordered Green to pay more than $185,000 in unrecovered drug trafficking proceeds.
Co-Conspirator Previously Sentenced
Green was not the only local man involved in the case. Co-conspirator Michael Jacobs, 35, of Endicott, was sentenced in December 2024 to 130 months in federal prison, or just under 11 years, for his role in the conspiracy. Jacobs was also ordered to serve five years of supervised release after completing his sentence.
Federal Officials Call the Sentence a Deterrent
Federal officials described the sentence as a strong message to others involved in drug trafficking. Prosecutors said the combination of fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, and illegal firearms significantly increased the danger to the community. They emphasized that the sentence both holds Green accountable for the harm caused in Broome County and removes a dangerous offender from the community for a long period of time.
Law Enforcement Emphasizes Community Impact
Investigators involved in the case said drug trafficking networks like this one put entire communities at risk. They pointed specifically to the devastation caused by fentanyl and other opioids, noting that these drugs continue to fuel addiction and overdose deaths. Officials also highlighted the importance of targeting not just drug distribution, but also the financial systems used to profit from it.
Multi-Agency Investigation Behind the Case
The case was the result of a coordinated investigation involving multiple federal and state agencies, including Homeland Security Investigations, IRS Criminal Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and the New York State Police. Federal prosecutors Kristen Grabowski and Ben Gillis handled the case in court.

Part of a Broader Federal Initiative
This prosecution was carried out as part of a broader federal initiative focused on dismantling criminal organizations involved in drug trafficking, weapons offenses, and money laundering. Officials say the goal is to disrupt these networks at every level and reduce the long-term harm they cause in local communities.
