Halloween parties are set throughout the Central and Southern Tier of New York. Here is one that looks to be fun in the Norwich area.

On Halloween, October 31st (2026), Downtown Norwich will be the scene of spooky fun, creative costumes, and treats. The day will feature a parade, Trunk-or-Treat, face painting, live music, shopping, and costume contests, including one for your four-legged friends.

The day kicks off at 10 a.m. and runs through 3 p.m., with the Norwitch Festival, with activities throughout the day in the Downtown Norwich East and West parks, including live music and food trucks. In addition, there will be a kids zone, with face painting, hayrides, and much more!

During the day, there will also be a chicken BBQ, chili cook-off, and pumpkin carving. The Chenango SPCA will sponsor the pet costume contest, with two pets selected, and their owners receiving gift bags filled with pet products.

It’s great to see the families out together. They’re participating, they’re watching, they’re cheering. It’s just another amazing event that highlights all things that are good in a small town. -  Jamey Mullen, executive director of the Norwich Family YMCA

The parade will kick off on South Broad Street at Francis Avenue, heading a half-mile north through downtown, continuing along North Broad Street between East and West Parks, and then turning left onto Fair Street, ending behind the Red Roof Inn Norwich.

An awards ceremony for children in kindergarten through sixth grade will follow on the steps of the Chenango County Courthouse on the west side of West Park. Kids can join the contest even if they were not in the parade.

The Trunk-or-Treat event will happen in the Frontier parking at the east side of East Park, with over two dozen local businesses, nonprofit organizations and community groups handing out candy, toys, coloring books, toothbrushes and much more.
