Households with children who are 17 and under, and receive Public Assistance, will receive around $100 through the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance.

Notices are being sent out to eligible households and checks have begun being sent out as of October 17th, 2023. The $12 million was made possible since New York State spent its full initial allocation of $28 million in federal dollars through the Pandemic Emergency Assistance Fund, which allowed states to elect to receive additional funding that had unspent funds.

Due to our success in providing assistance from the federal Pandemic Emergency Assistance Fund to some of our most vulnerable residents, New York has qualified for additional funding that went unused by other states. This federal funding further helps households that suffered from the economic toll caused by the pandemic and gives these families a quick infusion of cash to assist with their expenses. - New York State Governor Kathy Hochul

The New York State Governor's Office notes that hundreds of thousands of low-income families in the Empire States have been helped through the Pandemic Emergency Assistance Fund.

For example, according to New York State Governor Hochul's website, in 2022, $19 million was provided to households with $140 for each child age 3 or under to help with the cost of diapers. Also in 2022, over $44 million was allocated to assist households with children receiving Public Assistance to cover back-to-school and early-life nutritional expenses.
