If you're looking to road trip this winter, are you considering indoor water parks? Here's 5 you should check out.

When it's snowing, icy, and you start feeling wind chills in the negative temperatures, it's time for a vacation. You don't necessarily need to travel somewhere tropical to feel those warm temps. You also don't need to travel to crazy destinations to sit by the pool.

The United States didn’t have their first indoor water park until 1994. We weren't the first country to have one though:

The first indoor water park in the world was built in Alpamare, Switzerland. France followed soon after with their first water park opening in 1984, and the Netherlands built two indoor water parks within the next ten years."

Today, indoor water parks can be found almost in every state in our country. We went from a place where having an indoor pool at a hotel was super cool, to having an entire water park.

Literally, there are plenty of places within driving distance of Central New York and the Mohawk Valley that you can make a weekend getaway out of. Water slides, heated pools, and tropical temps....inside a building......where if you look outside you'll see inches, or feet, of snow.

Through our research, we were able to find at least 5 indoor water parks in New York. Think Enchanted Forest, but inside. However, how cool with Enchanted Forest be as an indoor water park? Or, imagine slipping down the ice slides.....That could truly be a lot of fun too.

Here's a look at our 5:
